Accrete

Accrete Health Partners is the venture and innovation platform of Bon Secours Mercy Health — one of the 20 largest health systems in the United States — built to expand, align, and synergize the organization's digital health services, investments, and partnerships.

The Challenge

Led by Jason Szczuka, Bon Secours Mercy Health's chief digital officer, Accrete was designed to form a growing coalition of provider systems, data and technology companies bringing best-in-class digital solutions to market.

The concept was sophisticated and the mandate was clear — but a new entity launching from inside one of the country's largest health systems carries its own particular pressure: it needs to arrive looking like a serious, independent force from day one.

With a hard launch deadline and a leadership team already in motion, Accrete needed a brand that could hold up in boardrooms and startup conversations alike — built fast, built right.

The Awakening

Emery was engaged to deliver a Minimum Viable Brand: the essential elements a new venture needs to establish credibility and capture attention without slowing momentum.

Working within the visual language of digital health while deliberately breaking from its conventions, Emery developed a fresh identity that felt both credible to health system partners and genuinely distinct in a category that often looks and sounds the same.

A launch website gave Accrete a home base worthy of its ambition — and everything was delivered on timeline, ready for the announcement.

The Transformation

Accrete launched publicly in May 2022 as a digital holding company built to coalesce a continuum of leading solutions and connect the technology, data, and people needed to improve outcomes in health care.

The brand Emery built gave the team a foundation to grow from. Today, Accrete's 10 portfolio companies touch every operating team at Bon Secours Mercy Health, and the venture arm consistently completes more new investments than nearly any comparable health system — despite running a lean team of three.

A brand built for launch became a brand built to last.
